What Materials Can Be Coated?
The suggested solid lubricants could be applied to any metallic surfaces, such as all forms of steel (high speed steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, etc.), Aluminum and Titanium alloys, Cupper, Brass, etc. It also could be applied to any carbide, ceramic or plastic surfaces. Some basic characteristics of the suggested coatings are described below in Table 1.
Materials | Coating Composition | Thickness (μm) | COF |
---|---|---|---|
SS / HSS/ CS/ Al / Ti | IF- WS2 | 0.05 – 0.1 | 0.01 – 0.1 |
SS / HSS/ CS/ Al / Ti | IF- WS2/Various form of carbon | 1.5 – 3.0 | 0.1 – 0.2 |
SS / HSS/ CS/ Al / Ti | IF- WS2/ MoS2 | 1.0 – 1.5 | 0.05 – 0.15 |
SS / HSS/ CS/ Al / Ti | IF- WS2/ Teflon | 1.0 – 3.0 | 0.1 – 0.15 |
How We Apply Coating to the Parts?
The coating to costumer parts is applied by variety of methods such as pressurized gas spraying (air, nitrogen Argonne, etc.), brushing, sputtering etc. The coatings can be deposited at an ambient temperature with or without binders or adhesives by customer request. By using individual approach we provide good adhesion of coating to the customer parts with the thickness in the range between 0.5 μm to 3.0 μm. By customer demand the parts surfaces could be modified and hardened in order to further enhance properties and performance. The following surface modification methods can be applied prior to solid lubricant deposition: anodizing, plating, PVD or CVD coating, nitrating or other forms of surface modifications. Each specific application is discussed on case by case and best coating is selected.

Low Friction Coatings
Uniqoat coatings are excellent solutions for protection of any sliding, rotating, reciprocating parts. Titanium and steel fasteners, aluminum slides, ball bearings and door locks, as well as many other moving and sliding metallic parts.

Heat Resistant, Soil Resistant Coatings
Engine Piston Skirts

Internal combustion is excellent application for coating that combines: heat restance, antiwear, antifriction and carbon builtup prevention properties. Uniqoat has developed special IF-WS2 / carbon composite coating to extend life of piston at normal operation as well as first and cold start conditions.
Exhaust pipes

Some of our IF-WS2 / carbon composite coatings could serve as heat-resistant, soil resistant protective layers by preventing carbides, sulphides, and other materials in exhaust gasses from adhering to cast iron, ductile cast iron or aluminium.

Wear Resistant Coatings
Uniqoat coating provide excellent antiwear protection at many heavy duty and abrasion applications: threads of CNC Machines, forming dies and pinches, carbide end mills and drill bits, as well as various types of gears. For many applications the life of performing tools could be extended up to 10 times or more.
